A LETTER FROM YOUR REUNION
PLANNING COMMITTEE
Dear Classmates:
We were thrilled that so many of our classmates
chose to participate in our 50th class reunion activities. We
had an overwhelming 148 graduates and guests at the reunion banquet. For
those of you that didn’t join us, we missed you!
The get-togethers on Thursday and Friday at the
Acapulco and El Torito restaurants, the Kearny homecoming game against Point
Loma gave many of us a chance to rekindle old friendships. The main event
on Saturday was glorious. The Presidio Room at the Handlery Hotel and
Resort was beautifully decorated in our maroon and white school colors. The
memorabilia display brought back some great memories, and the video produced
by Forrest Letzring was absolutely priceless. And what about Lou Repaci’s
Quintet! They brought us back to the days in the 50’s when we danced to
Lou’s original band, “The Starlighter’s.” The surprise performance by
Elvis, the great impersonations by Bill Hudson made the evening even more
special. The evening was filled with excitement and stories of those
wonderful and unforgettable days of growing up together in Linda Vista.
The nostalgia continued the next day with church
services at the Zion Avenue Baptist Church, and our very own Don
Branson presiding at the service. Following the services many of you
attended the Kearny Alumni Picnic at Mission Bay, while others attended a
luncheon hosted by Hope Cornell-Branson. What a wonderful setting for
kicking back and sharing more stories of those wonderful days. We encourage
everyone to attend the alumni picnic again next year. It will be the first
Sunday in October at the same place.
Our hard work was rewarded by the appreciation
expressed by so many of our classmates at the reunion and the responses and
notes received since the event. Please keep in touch, we don’t want to lose
you.
We hope you enjoy this memory book and that it
will become a lasting part of your past and future memories.
