. Kearny High Teachers and Staff We all had our favorite teachers, and some of those teachers have been a major influence in our lives. On behalf of the Class of '53, we want to express our sincere gratitude to those teachers and mentors for preparing us for the journey of life. Without your dedication and persistence, our journey would have been far more difficult.
Our principal, Mr. Carr (top), was a popular principal with very high visibility. He took part in most activities, and was an avid fan of the Kearny Komet's football team. Mr. Yates, who was the Dean of Boys, always had his hands full. He was your best friend if you were a good guy, but could be mighty firm if you wandered from the straight and narrow. Miss Delight Smith, who was the Dean of Girls, always had a smile on her face (except in this picture). She was very active in club activities and was "head keeper" for the Girls' League, and Dianas.
